           Fire Prevention and Code Enforcement

Welcome to the Ramona Fire Department's Fire Prevention Bureau. Pictured is Fire Marshall Calvin McVay looking over a set of blue prints for a new building. Our office is located at the Ramona Municipal Water District building at 105 Earlham Street, Ramona, Ca. 92065. Hours are Monday thru Friday 7:30 am to 3:30 pm. It is at this location you can bring in your building plans for Fire Marshall approval.

Plan checks

The county will send you here to secure a plan check on any new construction within the District. You will need to bring the 2 San Diego County stamped sets along with a single page Fire Mitigation Form. Plan checks are not done over the counter, but you can usually expect a turn around time of 2-3 business days. Fees will be explained and collected during your visit.

Business Inspection

If you own a business in Ramona, you will receive a fire safety inspection yearly from your local fire station. Firefighters will conduct a quick inspection of your business looking for public safety problems. Usually quick and usually painless, firefighters will provide you with a written statement of the problems that need to be corrected and a timeline of when they are to be corrected.

Weed Abatement

Ramona Fire Department contracts with "Fire Prevention Services" for enforcement of weed abatement. However, should a parcel be found  in violation and is slated for code enforcement, the Fire Marshall will personally inspect the parcel to verify.  Also use the Vegetation Clearance link for more info.
