Reserve
Firefighter Program
The
Ramona Municipal Water District, under the direction of the California
Dept of Forestry and Fire CAL-FIRE,
is accepting applications on a continuous basis. The Fire Department
provides fire and emergency services to a 75 square mile area of the
Ramona community. The Department has 31 full-time employees, three
fire stations, three engines, two Paramedic ambulances, one rescue
unit, the Reserve Program, and an Explorer Program.
Reserve
firefighters work along side paid staff and perform a full range of
firefighting, emergency medical, and other hazard mitigation.
Primary Reserves serve a minimum of
three 24-hour duty shifts per month. Alternate Reserves are required
to attend two training drills per month. Primary Reserves are
compensated with incentive pay of minimum wage ($7.50 per hour;
increases to $8.00 per hour

). Alternate Reserves receive no monetary compensation unless working
in the capacity of Primary Reserve.
Qualifications
1) Applicants must be 18 years of age.
2) Possession of, and ability
to maintain, a valid
California
drivers license, Class C, with an acceptable driving record.
3)
Qualified applicants must meet ONE of the following criteria:
a)
certification as a Firefighter I by the State of
California
; b) completion of an accredited State Fire Marshal Firefighter I
Academy; or c) completion of a
CAL-FIRE
Wildland
Fire
Academy
.
4)
Possession of a San Diego County EMT-1 certification
